On May 15 and 16, 2023, a two-day training took place in Thessaloniki, Greece, as part of the project “Alternative Touristic Experience – Alternative Travel” ALTER TRIP, implemented within the framework of the IPA Interreg Cross-Border Cooperation Program.
Victoria Velkova, as a representative of the Office for International Relations at the International Slavic University, and a representative from Mayberry Lake – Pretor, owned by ISU, attended the training in Thessaloniki at the invitation of the Association of Persons with Disabilities in Bitola, Demir Hisar, and Resen, Mobility – Bitola. The knowledge and experiences gained will contribute to improving accessibility at Mayberry Lake and will also enhance work with Erasmus+ projects through the Office for International Relations at ISU.
The main goal of the ALTER TRIP project is to motivate the transformation of a territory into an accessible and inclusive tourist destination and to support sustainable tourism development of cultural and natural heritage through the cross-border region. The main benefit arising from the implementation of the project is the improvement of the attractiveness of the tourist product by creating a diverse and multi-seasonal product in the cross-border region, focusing on the comparative advantages of rural environments that attract persons with disabilities and persons with reduced mobility and their families.
