17 December 2023On December 6th and 7th, 2023, the Eighth International Philosophical Dialogue, themed “East-West,” was successfully held, organized by MANU (Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts), the International Slavic University, the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of “St. Cyril and Methodius” – Skopje, and the Philosophical Society of Macedonia.
The main topic of the eighth International Philosophical Dialogue, held online, was “Philosophy and Global Issues.” Fifteen philosophers and researchers from seven countries participated: Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United States, Greece, and Macedonia.
The International Philosophical Dialogue “East-West” was first held in 2015, following a proposal by British philosopher Stephen Priest, organizing the inaugural three-day symposium on the theme “Science and Religion.”
In the years that followed, several topics were addressed:
- “The Law Between Politics and Ethics” (2016),
- “Philosophy of Education & Philosophy in Education” (2017),
- “Bioethics of Crossroads” (2018),
- “The Crisis of the Idea of Europe” (2019),
- “Philosophy of Memory” (2021),
- “The Legacy of Ancient Philosophy as a Bridge Between East and West” (2022).
