On April 23, 2024, the International Slavic University, in collaboration with the Institute for Engineering Economics, hosted a significant national conference on “The Challenges of New Labor Legislation and Occupational Safety and Health”. The conference was organized in observance of April 28, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
The conference program opened with welcoming speeches from prof. Jordan Gjorcev PhD – President of the Management Board of the International Slavic University; prof. Lazar Jovevski PhD – Head of the Labor Law Department at the Faculty of Law “Justinian I” – Skopje, prof. Zivko Mitrevski PhD- President of the University Senate at the International Slavic University, and prof. PhD Mevludin Mustafi from the Faculty of Legal Sciences at ISU.
At the conference, professors and practitioners from the field of legal sciences and occupational safety and health participated. Representatives from the State Labor Inspectorate were present, as well as our collaborators and partners from companies like Vitaminka, Kromberg & Schubert, and Premium Safety Solution.
The first panel discussion focused on the challenges brought by the new labor legislation and its impact on occupational safety and health, moderated by prof. Ivan Efremovski PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Legal Sciences at ISU. The second session discussed current challenges in the field of occupational safety and health, with prof. Cvetanka Mitrevska PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences and Informatics at ISU, serving as the moderator.
The conference represents a significant moment for the academic community and the broader public, emphasizing the university’s efforts to contribute to raising standards and safety at workplaces in the country.
