International Slavic University systematically develops international cooperation as one of the key pillars of its institutional and academic development. The International Cooperation Strategy 2019–2025 established clear directions for expanding and activating the network of international partners, developing student and academic mobility, integrating the international and intercultural dimension into teaching and research, and strengthening the University’s international visibility.
During this period, international cooperation gradually evolved from individual bilateral activities toward a more systematic approach, with clear procedures, greater participation in European education programmes, and the creation of more opportunities for students and staff.
Development of mobility and Erasmus+
A special place in the internationalisation process is given to the development of Erasmus+ mobility. The University works to increase both the number and the quality of incoming and outgoing mobility opportunities for students, academic staff, and administrative staff, while ensuring transparent selection procedures, timely preparation of participants, and academic recognition of successfully completed mobility periods.
Alongside physical mobility, ISU is also developing new forms of international learning and cooperation, including Blended Intensive Programmes – BIPs, short-term academic activities, guest visits, and joint educational initiatives.
From agreements to active partnerships
In the 2024–2027 period, the focus is increasingly shifting toward the quality and actual activity of international partnerships. The aim is not to measure partnerships solely by the number of agreements signed, but by the concrete results that arise from them.
This includes the implementation of student and academic mobility, joint projects, guest lectures, conferences, research activities, short academic programmes, and other forms of cooperation with partner institutions.
At the same time, the University is expanding its cooperation through participation in regional and international academic networks, consortia, and initiatives, with the aim of creating new opportunities for students, academic staff, and the institution as a whole.
International dimension of teaching
One of the important directions up to 2027 is the further development of the international dimension of the educational process. This includes expanding the academic offer and content available in English, creating conditions for greater participation of international students and professors, and developing joint academic initiatives with partner universities.
Special attention is also given to opportunities for developing joint study programmes, Blended Intensive Programmes, international projects, and activities through which students can gain international experience as part of their studies.
International experience for students and staff
For ISU, international cooperation represents more than institutional networking. It should create concrete opportunities for students and employees to experience different academic environments, exchange knowledge and experiences, and develop competencies needed in today’s international environment.
For this reason, the University continues to encourage students, academic staff, and administrative staff to actively participate in mobility programmes, international projects, training, conferences, academic events, and other forms of international exchange.
Towards 2027
The Strategy for the 2024–2027 period represents a continuation and further development of the processes launched within the strategic framework that began in 2019. Its aim is to strengthen already established practices, turn partnerships into concrete activities, and make international cooperation an even more visible part of the academic experience of students and staff.
The period up to 2027 is also aligned with the current Erasmus+ framework and the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021–2027 and serves as preparation for the next phase of internationalisation after 2028.
In this way, ISU continues to pursue its vision of being a crossroads where knowledge from East and West is brought together and shared, while developing as a recognisable and reliable regional partner with an active international network, regular mobility opportunities, and concrete benefits for its academic community.
