Firefighters from Macedonia, students from the Faculty of Security Engineering at the ISU and representatives of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue on Saturday, May 10th, took part at the round table on the topic “Organization, tactics of extinguishing fire on high buildings and the behavior of firefighters” , which took place in the ISU – Sveti Nikole.
The aim of this roundtable was to enable education of professionals for organization, tactics, behavior and security against fires. Scientific, technical and practical developments were presented by the Commander of the in the UK, Roy Barakloy, and prof. Dr. Dragan Karabasil from the High Technical School for Vocational Studies from Novi Sad.
“Most importantly, the tenants in whose building a fire broke out is to remain separate. If they may need to engage in extinguishing, and if not, they should immediately move away from the burned object. Firefighters in Macedonia and the region are trained, but in order to enter an object with a fire and a temperature of 1100 degrees, they need adequate equipment. One scale with a length of 44 meters costs 750 thousand euros, “said PhD Karabasil. He also stressed that also a major problem of quick extinguishing and a lower fire is that almost all the hydrants in the buildings are damaged, and the fire hoses are stolen from them.
Dean of the Faculty of Security Engineering, Phd Aleksandar Grozdanovski, emphasized that the interest in studying at this faculty is constantly increasing, as this is the first and only faculty of its kind in Macedonia.
