Today at the amphitheater of the International Slavic University “G. R. Derzhavin “Sveti Nikole, for 11th year in a row was ceremoniously celebrated Maslenitsa, (Russian day of forgiveness). The event, attended by about 200 citizens from several cities in Macedonia, was organized by the International Slavic University, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the country and the Association of Macedonian-Russian Friendship Associations.
Guest of this event was the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, HE. Sergei Aleksandrovich Bazdnikin.
The celebration was held on March 7, 2019 (Thursday) at the grand amphitheater of ISU in Sveti Nikole.
Maslenitsa represents the end of winter and the beginning of spring. It is one of the happiest Russian holidays. One of the most impressive customs is the burning of the straw doll, which symbolizes the old year. Hot pancakes are traditionally prepared for Maslenitsa.
Participants in this event were: Vanja Zhindzhirovska, Evgeniya Miloshevska and Svetlana Puzhevska from the composition “Chika”, the city choir from Stip, the youngest players from the “Janko Gligorov” from Sveti Nikole and the opera singer Todor Arsovski from Shtip.
