On April 26, 2023 (Wednesday), at the International Slavic University in Sveti Nikole, a workshop on “Protection of Victims of Gender-Based Violence in the Republic of North Macedonia” was held. The speaker at the event was Elena Dimushevska, Executive Director of the National Network Against Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence, together with Assoc. Prof. Milena Spasovska, a professor at the Faculty of Psychology at ISU.
The workshop aimed to encourage participants to recognize and provide support to victims of gender-based violence in North Macedonia. Adequately addressing this issue requires educating people about the nature and consequences of gender-based violence, how to recognize it, and how to support victims. This workshop provided participants with an opportunity to learn about the importance of listening, believing, and supporting victims, as well as ways in which they can help.
The key focus of the workshop was on the importance of recognizing and preventing gender-based violence. Participants learned about different forms of violence, including physical, emotional, sexual, and economic violence, and how to recognize signs of violence and engage with those experiencing it.
