On March 2nd, 2022 at the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Vasko Stameski, Ph.D., the Vice-Rector of International Affairs on the International Slavic University, as a special guest – speaker from the Republic of North Macedonia took part in the International Scientific Conference on Serbian- Slovak Relations.
The Vice-Rector Stamevski, in his capacity as a member of the working presidency, addressed at the opening ceremony of the conference with a short welcome speech, and in the second part of the conference – during the sessions, he had had an expert speech on the topic “Macedonia, Serbia and Slovakia in the context of the current geopolitical and security environment – challenges and perspectives”.
The international scientific conference was held under the auspices of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Serbia, the Institute for National and International Security – Belgrade, the Matej Bel University (UBM) from Slovakia and the Archives of Vojvodina from Serbia.
This important event was opened by the President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Mr. Ivica Dacic, and then the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic in the Republic of Serbia, the Director of INIS, the Rector of the College of Public and Individual Security “APERION” from Krakow, Poland, the Dean of the Faculty of Political Science within Matej Bel University, the Rector of the University of Belgrade and the Vice-Rector of ISU addressed the audience.
At the conference, in addition to the presentations of the participants’ papers, special emphasis was placed on the concept of “science diplomacy”, promoted by the Institute for National and International Security which includes over 80 professors and experts in the field of security and other related fields, from more than 25 countries around the world. The concept of “science diplomacy” has emphasized the scientific approach in the interpretation of the security science, through cooperation at the individual and institutional level, between the members of the institute and other stakeholders.
At the solemn part of the International Scientific Conference, the Vice-Rector Prof. Vasko Stamevski, Ph.D., was awarded with a golden plaque for outstanding contribution to the development of Serbian- Slovak relations in the concept of “science diplomacy”.
