Winners of the competition for high school essays – 2018
Out of the total 234 essays written by 209 talented authors, the jury singled out the following winners:
1st place – Martina Dukoska – SMUGS “Dr Pance Karagozov”, Skopje – “The future of humanity -Who will win in this race?”
Golden plaque, laptop, set of books and scholarship * in the amount of 300 euros
2nd place – Frosina Paskovska – SOU “Orde Chopela”, Prilep – “One rainy summer”
Silver plaque, tablet, set of books and scholarship * in the amount of 200 euros
3rd place – Stefani Dojcinoska – OSU “Mirko Mileski”, Kichevo – “The old train”
Plaque, set of books and scholarship * in the amount of 100 euros
* The scholarship is awarded on a one-off basis only if the student decides to enroll at one of the faculties at the ISU. It can be used only as a discount from the total tuition fee for studying. Prizes can not be replaced with cash.
The awards will be given at a special ceremony that will be held at the ISU in Sveti Nikole on May 24 at 12:00.
All students who have sent an essay are invited to attend the event. Before the ceremony, all authors of the texts will receive a printed version of the collection of essays “High school considerations”, where all successful essays from the competition will be published and the Certificates for participation will be granted.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes earlier so that you can register and pick up Certificates and printed editions.
Prizes for the first three places can be picked up only at the ceremony which will be held on May 24th at 12:00.
The remaining participants who will not be able to attend the ceremony can obtain their Certificates and copies from the collection of essays “High School Considerations” no later than June 1, 2018, at the ISU in Sveti Nikole.
Participants from Bitola will be able to collect the Certificates and the collections with essays from the ISU in Bitola, starting from 04.06.2018 (Monday), working hours from 08:00 to 15:00.
Participants from Skopje will be able to pick up certificates and collections with essays from the household store Phoenix, st. Kostur heroes no. 35, at the Universal Hall, opposite to Vucko, starting from 04.06.2018 (Monday), working hours from 08:00 to 16:00.
The remaining participants will be contacted by phone at the beginning of June in order to arrange for the service.

A free theme by the author’s choice
We look for original essays. Sincere, satirical, witty, brave, creative, intelligent, emotional, visionary … Just such essays that you want to write! Essays that can really reflect high school considerations.
Topic titles are given only as guidelines for the author. You can give arguments for and against, you may agree and disagree with the given topics. In shaping the idea (and how abstract it will be) you can have complete freedom. It is important to feel free and confident in what you are writing.
1. Who can apply?
All high school students from the Republic of Macedonia with an unlimited number of essays can take part in the competition.
2. What conditions should the essay fulfill?
The essay should be written in Macedonian or English and to meet the following conditions:
to be written on one of the given topics
to be prepared as an MS Office Word document (.doc or .docx) – A4 format
not to exceed 700 words
font Arial (with Macedonian / Cyrillic support);
margins: left, right, up and down 20 mm
not to be offensive to any ethnic community, nor should it contain hate speech based on race, religion or gender
3. Except the essay, is it necessary to provide additional information?
It is necessary on the first page, before the beginning of the essay, to highlight the following data:
name and surname of the author
date of birth of the author
name of school and place
address and place of residence of the author
phone number of the author
author’s e-mail address
4. What is the deadline for the materials to be sent?
The competition will run from February 20 to May 1, 2018. The materials can be submitted during this period, including May 1, 2018.

6. Prizes
Special rewards for
First place: Golden Plaque, laptop, set of books and scholarship * in the amount of 300 euros.
Second place: Silver plaque, tablet, set of books and scholarship * in the amount of 200 euros.
Third place: a plaque, a set of books and a scholarship * in the amount of 100 euros.
For all other participants will be prepared gifts and certificates for participation in the competition.

7. Criteria
It is important that the essay meets the technical requirements stated in the competition. This will be the first phase of elimination.
All the essays that will pass the first phase will be evaluated by the commission according to the following criteria:
originality, innovation
style and manner of expression
a well-organized essay with appropriate content and structure
understanding the topic that is being written
a clear goal, good argumentation and concrete examples
grammar and punctuation
8. Publishing the results
The results will be published on this site on May 21, 2018, no later than 12:00 o’clock.
9. Allocation of the awards
The awards will be allocated at a special ceremony which will be held at the International Slavic University “G. R. Derzhavin “in Sveti Nikole on May 24 at 12:00. All students who have sent an essay will receive an invitation for the allocation of the awards.
At the same time, promotion of the publication titled “High School Considerations” will be held, where all successful essays from the competition will be published.
