International Slavic University “G. R. Derzhavin” organized a contest in egg tapping with ostrich eggs. This year, the unusual and unique tradition of celebrating Easter has been a jubilee tenth year.
The competition was held on the square in the center of Sveti Nikole beside the egg 3 meters high which was commissioned and made for Sveti Nikole Municipality, with the support of the International Slavic University.
Children from Sveti Nikole, Probistip and Russia took part in the tenth competition.
The participants who were in a team of two contestants measured their techniques of tapping the opponent’s egg in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere.
The winning team at this traditional completion was comprised of Markijan Kralev and Goran Zlatev from Sveti Nikole, who with the ostrich egg weighing one kilogram, managed to beat the other competitors.
The competition was followed by a committee that was comprised of Lena Gjuric, Milena Spasovska and Ivana Spaseva.
The ostrich eggs are raised on a farm in Sveti Nikole and they have to be boiled at least 2 hours and they substitute approximately 20 chicken eggs.
Also, the adults participated in the egg tapping.
