On Saturday, October 24th, 2015, at the great amphitheater of the International Slavic University “G. R. Derzhavin “in Sveti Nikole officially were handed books from the Nobelist Solzhenitsyn, headquartered in Moscow to the International Slavic University in Sveti Nikole . The event began with a short introduction to the life and work of the Nobelist Alexander Solzhenitsyn, and it was opened by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Macedonia, His Excellency, Mr. Oleg Shcherbak.
This donation was titled “spiritual relay” by the Ambassador because the first books of Cyrillic in Russia arrived from Macedonia, and now, after centuries, books written on the same Cyrillic language arrived in Macedonia from Russia.
A representative from the Alexander Solzhenitsyn Foundation, Mr. Victor Leonidov, gave speech to the audience, who expressed his satisfaction that in Macedonia there are institutions that study Russian culture, history, language and literature. The donation came as a result of the long-standing work of the International Slavic University in the promotion of Russian culture in Macedonia and beyond its borders.
The organizers of the event were the International Slavic University, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Macedonia and the Alexander Solzhenitsyn Foundation. After the ceremonial presentation of the books, the city’s Mandolin Orchestra “St. Nikolai “from Sveti Nikole staged, under the maestro’s baton Kiril Trajkovski.
