
Mihaela Gjorcheva to Moderate High-Level Panel in Davos: “Geopolitics & Power: Women at the Helm of Global Influence”
8 January 2026On January 16, 2026, Mihaela Gjorcheva, Vice President of the Management Board at International Slavic University, and Ivan Spasev, Board Member, took part in the high-level discussion “The UN Charter at 80: Preventing and Resolving Conflicts”, organized by Global Peace Chain.
The event was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, bringing together representatives from more than 15 permanent missions to the UN, including: Azerbaijan, Austria, Cambodia, China, Cuba, Egypt, Finland, Indonesia, Pakistan, Qatar, Russia, Slovenia, Timor-Leste, Turkey, and Venezuela.
High-ranking United Nations officials attended the event, including Martha Ama Akyaa Pobee, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Africa, and Felipe Paullier, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth. Additional speakers included Elyse Mosquini, Permanent Observer at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and Jonah Harris, Political Analyst for the Peace, Climate, and Sustainable Development Program at the International Peace Institute (IPI).







The discussion focused on the relevance of the UN Charter in today’s world, emphasizing conflict prevention, the growing need for multilateral cooperation, and the importance of diplomatic dialogue in an era of global challenges.
