On Saturday, October 25th, 2014, starting at 6:00 pm, the Sveti Nikole audience had a rare opportunity to hear the most popular Russian songs and romances at the great amphitheater of the International Slavic University “G. R. Derzhavin “- Sveti Nikole sung by the Chorus of the Valaam Monastery from Russia. The choir is on his first tour of Macedonia and has visited Prilep, Bitola and Sveti Nikole, and today he will perform in Skopje.
The solemn male choir of the Valaam Monastery from Russia, in the beautiful and crowded amphitheater of the International Slavic University in Sveti Nikole, held a concert of spiritual music that will remember the numerous audiences as an exceptional musical and cultural event. In many ways unique, and above all in terms of the quality of the vocals and the style of performing the songs, which are part of the rich Orthodox church and spiritual treasury, this choir filled the hearts and souls of the audience with the whole-evening concert.
The composition of the choir includes well-known professional musicians from St. Petersburg, graduates of the St. Petersburg Choral School in the State Academic Chapel “MI Glinka” and the St. Petersburg State Conservatory, “N. A. Rymski-Korsakov”, Vladimir Miller (bass profundo) , soloist of the Bolshoi Theater, Mikhail Kruglov (bass-profundo), Dmitry Popov (counter-tenor), Alexander Bordak (tenor), as well as other graduated and affirmed singers, and with the choir conducted by Alexei Zhukov.
What literally raised the audience to its feet was the moment when the choir began with the performance of “A Bre, Makedonce”. The wonderful performance of this Macedonian song was followed by a loud applause by the audience.
In addition to the performance of the choir, the same evening at the International Slavic University – Sveti Nikole was opened the exhibition titled “World Fire”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of World War I, and prepared by the Association of the Russian Diaspora in Macedonia.
The Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Macedonia was also present at the manifestation. Macedonia, N. E. Oleg Shcherbak, as well as PhD Irina Bondar, representative of the North Caucasus Federal University of Russia.
