16 February 2026Prof. Dr. Slobodan Bundalevski, representing International Slavic University, participated in a two-day workshop held in Skopje focused on strengthening cooperation, developing skills, and promoting inclusion in the solid waste management sector. The event brought together representatives of academia, institutions, and relevant organizations to exchange expertise, identify challenges, and develop guidelines for the continued advancement of this important sector.

The first day focused on the topic “Cooperation with the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy (FTM) and Helvetas North Macedonia.” Discussions addressed strengthening partnerships, developing joint initiatives, and aligning academic expertise with the sector’s practical needs. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of higher education institutions in generating practical knowledge, facilitating technology transfer, and building sustainable models of cooperation among universities, the private sector, and international organizations.
The second day was dedicated to “Pathways to Skills and Inclusion in the Solid Waste Sector.” Participants explored opportunities to develop specialized training programs to support small and medium-sized enterprises, while also reviewing the current situation and key findings from relevant reports. Discussions focused on identifying skills gaps, the need for structured upskilling and reskilling programs, and the development of a more inclusive approach that would facilitate the greater integration of diverse groups.

Activities of this kind strengthen the University’s position as a relevant stakeholder in sustainable development, innovation, and knowledge transfer.
