The Waste Management study program covers all aspects of waste management, providing students with detailed knowledge about the energy potential of municipalities, methods for testing and characterizing waste, as well as directives and standards for environmental protection. The program is designed to provide the necessary knowledge and skills for effective management of public services and project management, key components for successfully addressing the challenges in the field of waste management.
In the advanced semesters, the program focuses on waste processing technology, waste logistics, and ecotoxicology, enabling students to develop abilities for innovative problem-solving related to waste. Elective courses such as Reliability and Safety of Technical Systems and Business Psychology allow students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals.
In the final semesters, the focus is placed on the sustainability of waste management, municipal waste management, and maintenance management. By combining theoretical knowledge and practical experience, students are prepared to lead initiatives for sustainable waste management and to apply research in real-life situations. Elective courses such as the basics of multimedia offer the opportunity to expand skills applicable in a wide range of professional contexts.
Completing with professional practice and a master’s thesis, students have a unique opportunity to apply their knowledge in practice, exploring specific problems and implementing innovative solutions in the field of waste management. The master’s program in Waste Management is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to become leaders and innovators in the field of waste management and environmental protection.
Students who acquire at least 180 ECTS during their studies can enroll in two-year studies (3+2). Within the framework of the two-year studies, 16 courses are covered, which students should pass.
There are compulsory and optional courses in each semester. Students can choose only one course from the two optional courses. In addition, during lectures, the preparation and defense of the master’s thesis are included.
Upon completion of studies and preparation of the master’s thesis, the students will acquire the professional title Master in Waste Management.

Enrollment requirements
Students who have completed the first cycle of studies with 180 ECTS (completed three-year studies) are entitled to enroll in the second cycle of studies.
Students from other accredited faculties and foreign citizens (regulated by law) also are entitled to enroll.
Students enroll without taking an entrance exam.
Required documents for international students
When applying for admission to second cycle, candidates should submit the following documents:
- Certificate (diploma) of graduation/bachelor’s degree;
- Transcript of records;
- Nostrification of the diploma (for international students)
- Birth certificate;
- ID;
- 4 document photos
For international students additional documents might be necessary. Documents for applications can be submitted at the International Slavic University in Sveti Nikole, at the following address “Marshal Tito” No. 77 , and Bitola at the following address “Novachki pat” No. 16.
Tuition fees
The tuition fee per year for international students is EUR 2030 for the fourth year, and EUR 2030 for the fifth year. International students pay the whole amount of the yearly tuition fee at the beginning of each academic year.
